Sandhill crane trying rest or sleep near Blacktail Ponds in Yellowstone National Park. Sandhill cranes summer in the park after wintering further south in Arizona or New Mexico. They can stand as tall as 48” and weight up to 14 lbs. They are built for flying and can migrate from the south USA to the Arctic.
